Eragon, suffers from uveitis/moon blindness. Was hospitalized for a week after his starvation drove him to eat hair, causing an impaction. He was SO skinny. We really thought we were going to lose him. Now, our pink-skinned, sun-sensitive boy is doing GREAT! He was one of the hardest to get the first 50lbs on.
Eragon, before he arrived to Paradise Dreams Animal Sanctuary.
Ellie is a draft cross mare that was brought to a kill pen in Oklahoma in a big group. Every single one of her friends got a home and Ellie was being overlooked. We saw her. She is unhandled but the fear is dissipating making way for a super curious and personable mare.
Admiral is a TWH/QH 2003 gelding from a kill pen in Texas. They rode him even though he was very lame to show how broke he was. He came in with front shoes half on and in need of some groceries (to help him put weight on). He keeps his herd in line but is a gentle sweet boy with employees and volunteers.
Apollo is a mini from an Oklahoma kill pen . He was a stallion who we gelded while in quarantine. He was very defensive at the kill pen which put off home offers for him. He just needed a chance to unwind. He is Mr. personality and is the first one to greet you with a very high pitched (Guinea pig like) whinny.
Costa is a senior quarter horse at a kill pen in Louisiana. He was very skinny and shut down. Didn’t want to interact with people or horses. Now he has a group of friends and is starting to want human attention
Arabelle is a 5yr old Belgian cross mare with a dislocated hip from a kill pen in Texas. She hid behind Pandora for a few months but loves a cookie and is starting to come up for attention. Her mobility has improved a lot
Joey (7) and Franny (14) are owner surrenders. A very nice lady reached out to us to provide sanctuary for them. She had taken them out of a neglectful situation and done a great job getting weight back on them. She wasn’t able to provide a forever home for them but did the right thing reaching out for help. Franny was a broodmare and Joey was a stallion pasture ornament. He has been gelded and is doing being a good boy integrating in small groups as he had been kept isolated as a stallion. Franny was very upset and is starting to come into her own.
Joey has been Adopted!
Figaro is an Amish driving pony. He was super skinny and was beat up at Texas kill pen.
Honor is a 26 year old mare who became the guardian/mother figure to Zahara and Huyana. She bosses around all the mustangs here and doesn't put up with any nonsense.
